‘Don’t Neglect Us, Fulfil Our Demands’: Jarange’s Warning to Fadnavis Government

• Sets September 12 Deadline for Maratha Demands, Warns of Massive Mumbai Mobilisation If Government Fails to Act

Pune : Maratha reservation leader Manoj Jarange Patil has issued a strong warning to the Maharashtra government, demanding that all pending demands of the Maratha community be accepted by September 12. Addressing a press conference, Jarange said the government had had sufficient time to act and warned that the community would be forced to intensify its agitation and move towards Mumbai if the demands were not addressed.

A key demand raised by Jarange is the implementation of the Hyderabad Gazetteer and issuance of Kunbi certificates to eligible Marathas on a broad basis. He questioned the need for additional procedures that, according to him, were creating hurdles in issuing certificates and alleged that officials were deliberately delaying the process. He also demanded that government resolutions on the demands already agreed to be issued publicly at Antarwali Sarati.

Jarange also targeted Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and ministers Eknath Shinde and Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, alleging that repeated meetings and assurances had failed to produce concrete action. He demanded that the government stop delaying the issue and provide written government resolutions on the accepted demands.

Warning of a major mobilisation, Jarange called upon Maratha community members from villages across Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan and other regions to prepare for the September 12 agitation. He said the next phase would involve a march towards Mumbai and indicated that the protesters would proceed towards Varsha bungalow.

At the same time, Jarange appealed to protesters to maintain peace and discipline. He specifically said there should be no arson, stone-pelting or violence and urged protesters not to confront the police. He said the agitation would remain focused on shutting down roads and observing a state-wide bandh rather than resorting to violence.

Jarange also highlighted the economic distress faced by farmers, workers, employees, traders and other sections of society, citing crop losses, inadequate rainfall and rising electricity bills as growing concerns. He urged farmers to continue looking after their fields while calling on supporters to come prepared with food and water for the agitation.

Issuing a political warning to the ruling establishment, Jarange said that if the government failed to meet the community’s demands by September 12, the Maratha community would decide its future political course. He said the party that supports and fulfils their demands would receive the community’s support, while those refusing to act would face opposition.

Jarange further appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to intervene and prevail upon Fadnavis to address the community’s demands. He claimed that the September 12 mobilisation in Mumbai could be significantly larger than previous protests and urged supporters to begin preparations immediately.
