Laser Light Violation: Ganesh Mandal Chief Fined ₹1,000

Pune : A Pimpri court has fined Bajrang Vinayak Lakde, president of Jay Bhavani Mitra Mandal in Pimple Nilakh, ₹1,000 and sentenced him to imprisonment till the rising of the court for using prohibited high-intensity beam and laser lights during the 2025 Ganesh immersion procession.

Despite police instructions prohibiting such lights during Ganeshotsav, the lights were used during the procession from Ganesh Nagar Chowk to Pimple Nilakh Main Bus Stop on September 5, 2025. Sangvi police registered a case and later filed a chargesheet after collecting evidence.

The First Class Magistrate, Pimpri Court, pronounced the judgment on September 3, 2026. Failure to pay the fine will invite two days of simple imprisonment. Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandeep Atolye warned Ganesh mandals against using high-intensity beam or laser lights during Ganeshotsav 2026, stating that violators will face strict legal action and the equipment will be seized.
