Pimpri : Corporator Anuradha Gorkhe emphasized the need to focus on developing Pimpri-Chinchwad into a smart and safe city while speaking during the 2026–27 Budget General Body Meeting of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.
She stated that Pimpri-Chinchwad is the industrial engine of Maharashtra and development should not be limited to building roads, but must also ensure quality healthcare, education, and safety for citizens.
During the meeting, she proposed several important initiatives for the city’s overall development. She demanded the establishment of a Late Ajitdada Pawar International Sports University in Pimpri-Chinchwad to provide global opportunities for young sportspersons. She also suggested starting guidance centres for competitive exams, digital classrooms, and availability of expert teachers in municipal schools.
She further recommended strengthening smart lighting and CCTV networks in public places to improve women’s safety and proposed the creation of a Women Entrepreneurship Fund to support women self-help groups. She also suggested prioritising essential development works instead of unnecessary projects and creating a maintenance fund for old civic infrastructure.
To address pollution, she stressed developing mini forests in the city and setting up electric vehicle charging stations. She also demanded that municipal administration should become 100% digital and paperless to reduce citizens’ inconvenience.
She said the municipal budget is not just a financial statement but a roadmap for the city’s future, and the goal is to make Pimpri-Chinchwad an ideal and inclusive city.
