New Auto-Rickshaw, Taxi Permit Intent Letters Suspended : Sandesh Chavan

Pune : The process of issuing intent letters for new auto-rickshaw and taxi permits has been suspended by the Regional Transport Office Pimpri Chinchwad following a policy decision taken in a meeting held on March 9, 2026 under the chairmanship of the state Transport Minister.

According to Sandesh Chavan, Regional Transport Officer, the state government has temporarily put the open permit policy for auto-rickshaws and taxis on hold. In line with this decision, the Pimpri Chinchwad RTO will not issue new intent letters for auto-rickshaw and taxi permits until further orders.

Chavan has appealed to auto-rickshaw drivers, vehicle owners, applicants and transport unions to take note of the decision.
