PCMC Calls for Strict Pollution Control Measures at RMC Plants and Construction Sites
Pimpri : Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has directed Ready Mix Concrete (RMC) plants, construction sites and building material suppliers in the city to strictly implement dust and air pollution control measures.
The civic body’s Environment Department stated that steps are being taken to control the rising air pollution levels in the city. As per the guidelines issued by the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board on October 17, 2024, RMC plants and construction sites must follow specific measures to control dust pollution.
However, the municipal administration has observed that some establishments are not fully complying with these guidelines.
According to the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) monitoring centres, Pimpri Chinchwad’s air quality is currently in the moderate category (AQI 100–150). In view of this, the municipal corporation has appealed to all RMC plant operators, construction companies and material suppliers to immediately adopt pollution control measures.
The civic body has also warned that regular inspections will be conducted by ward offices, and strict action will be taken against violators. Establishments that fail to implement the required measures may face closure or even sealing if necessary, said Environment Department Chief Engineer Sanjay Kulkarni.
