Postal Workers Remain Relevant in Digital Age : Kashinath Nakhate

Postal employees and postmen felicitated in Nigdi on World Post Day

Pimpri : Despite the rapid growth of digital communication, postal services continue to play a significant role in society, said labour leader Kashinath Nakhate while appreciating the dedication and contribution of postal employees and postmen.

On the occasion of World Post Day, postal employees and postmen serving the Pimpri-Chinchwad region were felicitated at a programme held in Nigdi Pradhikaran. They were honoured with shawls, coconuts and sweets in recognition of their sincere and dedicated service.

Speaking at the event, Nakhate said postal workers continue to deliver letters, parcels and important government-related documents to citizens, irrespective of challenging weather conditions.

He also recalled the services rendered by postal employees during the COVID-19 pandemic, when they continued working despite risks to their own health to ensure that essential services reached people.

“Even in the digital age, the importance of the postal department has not diminished. While platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and email have made communication instantaneous, the reliability of postal services and the personal bond between postmen and citizens remain significant,” Nakhate said.

He added that postal employees do much more than deliver letters and parcels. They also help bring various important services within the reach of ordinary citizens.

“Technology has changed and the means of communication have evolved, but the dedication and sense of duty of postal workers remain unchanged. Honouring postmen and postal employees who serve people without worrying about the heat or rain is a recognition of their hard work and social contribution,” he said.

The programme was organised to express gratitude towards postal employees for their continued service to society. The felicitated employees thanked the federation for recognising their contribution.

Among those present were Deputy Postmaster Krishnakumar Kengar, postal assistant Rupali Wadekar, federation representatives Sahadev Honmane, Irfan Chaudhary and Manoj Yadav, and postmen Sheetal Nagwe, Ashwini Jadhav, Varsha Subhe, Anant Jadhav, Sarjerao Thombre, Santosh Chavan, Sandesh Gaikwad, Amrut Waghmare, Ghanshyam Patil, Vaishali Kolhe, Dattatray Jadhav, Bapu Dolse and Leena Begampure, along with other office-bearers and activists.
