Crop Damage Assessments Underway in Eight Pune District Talukas
Over 8.28 lakh landholders covered across 1,102 villages amid drought conditions
Pune : Crop damage assessments are underway in eight talukas of Pune district following a rainfall deficit and other natural factors that affected Kharif crops during the 2026 season. The state government has declared drought in these talukas and introduced various relief measures and concessions.
As per government directives, the administration has initiated crop damage assessments to identify affected farmers and facilitate relief measures.
The eight talukas covered under the exercise are Bhor, Velhe, Khed, Shirur, Baramati, Indapur, Daund and Purandar. A total of 8,28,428 landholders across 1,102 villages have been included in the assessment process. Crop damage has been reported across 3,32,058 hectares in these areas.
According to the latest assessment figures, crop damage assessments have been completed for 64,875 landholders covering 33,976.56 hectares.
Purandar has recorded completed assessments across 10,729 hectares, followed by Indapur at 6,687.61 hectares, Khed at 6,280 hectares and Daund at 5,459.16 hectares. In Baramati, assessments have been completed across 1,948 hectares, while the figures for Bhor, Velhe and Shirur stand at 1,289.70 hectares, 808 hectares and 775.09 hectares, respectively.
District Superintendent of Agriculture Vaibhav Tambe has appealed to farmers in the drought-affected talukas whose crops have not yet been assessed to contact their respective village revenue officers, village development officers or assistant agriculture officers.
He urged farmers to ensure that the assessment process is completed so that no eligible farmer is left out of the compensation process.
The ongoing exercise is expected to help the administration establish the extent of crop losses and identify farmers eligible for assistance under the applicable relief provisions.
