Jewellery Worth ₹13.98 Lakh Recovered Within 12 Hours

  • Dighi Police uncover alleged house-breaking case; investigation reveals jewellery was hidden inside the house

Pimpri-Chinchwad : The Crime Branch Unit-3 of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police solved a house-breaking case within 12 hours and recovered gold and silver jewellery worth ₹13,98,978. During the investigation, police found that the jewellery reported as stolen had actually been hidden inside the house.

A house-breaking case had been registered at Dighi Police Station. Acting on the instructions of Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, a parallel investigation was initiated by Crime Branch Unit-3 under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kasbe.

As part of the investigation, police examined CCTV footage from the area, conducted technical analysis of mobile phones and questioned neighbours and residents in detail. However, no suspicious person was found to have entered the building from outside.

Police then questioned the complainant’s wife after taking her into confidence. Detailed analysis of the sequence of events and the evidence gathered during the investigation led police to important clues.

During questioning, the woman allegedly admitted that her husband was planning to sell the gold and silver jewellery to purchase a new house. Fearing that the jewellery would be sold, she had hidden it inside the house, police said.

The jewellery, worth ₹13,98,978, was subsequently recovered in the presence of panch witnesses and seized by the police, bringing the reported house-breaking case to light.

Further investigation is being conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Ware of Dighi Police Station.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Santosh Kasbe of Crime Branch Unit-3 by Police Sub-Inspectors Sunil Jawale and Bharat Gosavi, along with police personnel Yuvraj Birajdar, Shashikant Nangare, Dilip Rathod, Nitin Gunjal, Nikhil Fapale and Swapnil Mahale.
