Pune RTO to Auction Fancy MH-61 Registration Numbers

  • Applications for preferred numbers to be accepted from October 5

Pune : The Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO) will introduce the new MH-61 registration series for transport vehicles and conduct an auction for fancy and preferred registration numbers for private four-wheelers, officials said.

The new series will cover goods vehicles, tourist taxis, buses and ambulances. For private four-wheelers, applications for preferred registration numbers will be accepted on October 5 from 10.30am to 2.30pm at the New Registration Department of the RTO.

If multiple applications are received for the same number, the list of applicants will be displayed on the office notice board. Demand drafts for the auction will be accepted until 3.15pm on October 6, followed by the auction at 4pm at Sahakar Sabhagruh.

For transport vehicles, applications will be accepted on October 6 from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Demand drafts will be accepted until 3.15pm on October 7, with the auction scheduled for 4pm the same day.

The demand draft must be drawn in favour of “R.T.O., Pune” from a nationalised or scheduled bank in Pune and should not be more than two months old. Applicants must submit an attested copy of their PAN card along with the application.

Only one demand draft will be accepted for one preferred number by an applicant. Applications with incorrect demand drafts, insufficient amounts, inaccurate mobile numbers or addresses outside the Pune RTO jurisdiction will be rejected.

In case of identical bids, the successful applicant will be selected through a draw of lots. The validity for reserving a preferred registration number is 180 days under Rule 54-A of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Rules, 1981.

After the auction, remaining preferred numbers will be allotted online through fancy.parivahan.gov.in, eliminating the need for applicants to visit the RTO. Applicants who do not secure their preferred number must collect their original demand draft within seven days.
