Prithika Pradeep Wins Asian Games Gold in Compound Archery
– Pimpri-Chinchwad archer contributes to India’s victory over China in women’s compound team final
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Bringing pride to Pimpri-Chinchwad, city-based archer Prithika Pradeep played a key role as the Indian women’s compound archery team won the gold medal at the Asian Games after defeating China 238-234 in the final.
The Indian team comprised Prithika Pradeep, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Chikitha Taniparthi. The trio displayed consistent and accurate shooting from the beginning of the final to maintain an advantage over China and secure the gold medal.
India’s score of 238 in the final equalled the world record of 238 set by South Korea in 2014, according to the information shared about the competition.
India had entered the final after a thrilling 234-233 victory over South Korea in the semi-final. The Indian women’s compound team also created history by winning the Asian Games gold medal for the second consecutive time.
The gold was Jyothi Surekha Vennam’s fourth Asian Games gold medal, while Prithika Pradeep and Chikitha Taniparthi won gold at the Asian Games for the first time.
Pride for Pimpri-Chinchwad
Prithika’s achievement has brought international recognition to Pimpri-Chinchwad’s sporting talent. Her success also highlights the efforts of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Archery Association, which has been working for the development of archery in the city for several years.
Her representation of India at the Asian Games and contribution to the gold-medal winning performance is being viewed as a significant achievement for the city and a source of inspiration for young archers in Maharashtra and across the country.
Prithika’s success has been supported by the consistent guidance and technical training of her coach Kunal Tavare, along with the encouragement and support of her parents.

Sonal Bundele, joint secretary of the Maharashtra Archery Association and secretary of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Archery Association, expressed happiness over Prithika’s achievement.
“I had the opportunity to recognise Prithika’s talent and potential when she was still in school. Her determination, hard work, willingness to learn and dedication to the sport have taken her to an Asian Games gold medal. I am proud of her achievement, which is a matter of pride for Pimpri-Chinchwad, Maharashtra and India. Her success will inspire many young athletes,” Bundele said.
She added, “Prithika’s hard work, the guidance of coach Kunal Tavare and the strong support of her parents have played an important role in this achievement. Through the Pimpri-Chinchwad Archery Association, we will continue our efforts to provide talented athletes with proper training and opportunities in the future.”
