Govt schemes must reach beneficiaries, says Ravindra Chavan
- BJP state president praises Rahul Kalate’s Jan Kalyan camps for connecting citizens with welfare schemes
Pimpri-Chinchwad : Implementing government schemes effectively and ensuring that their benefits reach eligible citizens is the responsibility of public representatives, BJP Maharashtra president Ravindra Chavan said at a beneficiary camp organised by BJP corporator Rahul Kalate in Wakad on Monday.
The camp was organised under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ being conducted to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. Beneficiaries were symbolically provided benefits and certificates under various government schemes and welfare initiatives.
Chavan praised Kalate for using technology and communication systems to connect citizens with government schemes. He said 64 Jan Kalyan camps had been organised through Kalate’s public relations office so far, benefiting more than 8,500 citizens.
“Government agencies formulate schemes, but taking these schemes successfully to people is the responsibility of public representatives. Mere publicity is not enough. The satisfaction on people’s faces after the complete implementation of a scheme is the real strength of a public representative,” Chavan said.
He also appreciated Kalate’s initiative of taking the public relations office directly to residential societies, village settlements and slum areas instead of waiting for citizens to approach the office.
Kalate said the Jan Kalyan camps had been conducted for the past six months without charging any service fee. The initiative aims to understand citizens’ problems, provide guidance and facilitate access to eligible government schemes and facilities.
MLA Shankar Jagtap, BJP city president Shatrughna Kate, group leader Prashant Shitole, corporators Reshma Bhujbal, Kunal Vavhalkar and Dharampal Tantarparle among others were present.
64 camps benefit 8,500+ citizens
Rahul Kalate’s Jan Kalyan camps have been organised at residential societies, village settlements and settlement areas across Wakad over the past six months. Through more than 64 camps, over 8,500 citizens have received assistance, guidance and access to various government schemes and facilities, organisers said.
