20-Year Rigorous Imprisonment for Sexual Assault of Minor
Pimpri : The Pimpri-Chinchwad District and Sessions Court has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment in a sexual assault case involving a minor registered by the MIDC Bhosari police.
Special and Additional Sessions Judge S.N. Yadav convicted Ramu Kunjal Nisad (40), a resident of Shambhu Colony, Vinayak Nagar, Moshi, in the case.
The MIDC Bhosari police had registered FIR No. 181/2026 under Sections 64(1), 65(2), 74 and 351 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 4, 6 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The case was registered on April 3, 2026. Police Sub-Inspector Chaitrali Bhise conducted the investigation and filed the chargesheet in the court within 30 days.
Following a request from the prosecution for an expedited trial, the court allowed the plea and completed the proceedings. The judgment was pronounced on September 22, 2026.
The court awarded 20 years’ imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 each under BNS Sections 64(1) and 65(2). It also awarded three years’ imprisonment and a fine under Sections 74 and 351. Under POCSO Sections 4 and 6, the accused was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment each, while Section 8 attracted five years’ imprisonment and a fine.
The court ordered that all the sentences would run concurrently. Special Public Prosecutor Smita Mukund Chougule represented the prosecution. Court Pairavi Officer MPSHWA S.R. Sarase coordinated the court proceedings.
The investigation and prosecution process was conducted under the guidance of senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey and other senior officers, along with MIDC Bhosari police station senior officials.
