Nana Patekar No More: Veteran Actor Dies at 75 in Goa

Pune : Patekar was found unconscious at his home in Dona Paula, Goa, in the early hours of Thursday and was rushed to Manipal Hospital. Despite efforts by doctors to revive him, he could not be saved. According to reports, he was declared dead at around 5.20 am after approximately 45 minutes of CPR.

Known for his powerful acting, distinctive voice and commanding dialogue delivery, Nana Patekar carved a unique place for himself in both Marathi and Hindi cinema. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he portrayed a wide range of characters and became one of the most respected performers in Indian cinema.

His memorable performances in films such as ‘Parinda’, ‘Krantiveer’, ‘Agni Sakshi’, ‘Ab Tak Chhappan’ and ‘Natsamrat’ earned him widespread acclaim. He was also widely popular for his performance as Uday Shetty in the Hindi comedy Welcome.

Patekar was a recipient of multiple National Film Awards for his contribution to Indian cinema. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 2013 for his contribution to the arts.

Apart from acting, Patekar was also associated with theatre, filmmaking and social work. His contribution to Indian cinema extended beyond the screen, with his intense performances and unmistakable dialogue delivery becoming a defining part of his legacy.
