4,112 drummers perform simultaneously at three locations in Pimpri-Chinchwad
Pimpri : A historic drum tribute was organised at the ‘Statue of Hindubhushan’ dedicated to Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Sunday, with thousands of drummers coming together to pay homage through a synchronised performance.
The event, organised under the leadership of MLA Mahesh Landge, president of the Hindubhushan Memorial Trust, saw 4,112 drummers perform simultaneously for five minutes, according to the organisers. The achievement was announced as a Guinness World Records feat by the organisers.
The programme was jointly organised by the Hindubhushan Memorial Trust, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the Dhol-Tasha Federation, Maharashtra. Dhol-tasha groups from different parts of Maharashtra participated in the event.
The performances were held simultaneously at Moshi, Spine Road and Wagheshwar Temple in Charholi. The organisers said the previous record stood at 2,650 drummers, while the Pimpri-Chinchwad event set a new record with 4,112 drummers.
The record attempt focused on maintaining a synchronised and disciplined performance for five consecutive minutes. The participating groups demonstrated coordination, consistency and discipline during the performance, creating a powerful tribute to the valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj.
The event also featured a collective conch-blowing ceremony involving 111 conches, followed by traditional performances and cultural presentations. A special ‘Shiv-Shambho Garjana’ programme was also held as part of the tribute.
A 128-metre saffron religious flag being constructed near the ‘Statue of Hindubhushan’ was also honoured during the event. Organisers said the programme aimed to highlight Maharashtra’s traditional dhol-tasha culture and pass the cultural heritage associated with the percussion tradition to the next generation.
The gathering resonated with slogans including ‘Har Har Mahadev’, ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ki Jai’, ‘Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Ki Jai’, ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Mahesh Landge said the massive drum tribute was a celebration of Maharashtra’s valour, cultural heritage and unity. He credited the participating drummers, troupe leaders, volunteers and citizens for the success of the record attempt.
The event also included a public awareness initiative against substance abuse, with participants taking a collective pledge to promote a drug-free society.
