Mother, Daughter Arrested After Uproar at Chinchwad Police Station
Women allegedly obstructed arrest process of murder-attempt accused, police say
PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : The mother and sister of a man arrested in connection with an alleged attempt to murder have been arrested after they reportedly created a commotion at the Chinchwad police station while opposing his arrest.
According to police, a case had been registered at the Chinchwad police station after Irfan was allegedly attacked with a koyta (sickle-like weapon) in the Walhekarwadi area in an attempt to kill him. Four accused, including Abhishek Lalman Yadav, have been arrested in connection with the case. A juvenile in conflict with law is also among those involved, police said.
During the investigation, police brought Yadav to the police station after taking him into custody. While the process of his arrest was underway following a medical examination, his mother and sister allegedly arrived at the police station and objected to the arrest.
Police have alleged that the two women shouted and created a disturbance on the premises while opposing the arrest proceedings.
According to the police complaint, Yadav’s sister recorded the incident on her mobile phone and allegedly removed her T-shirt during the commotion. His mother allegedly banged her head against an iron railing on the staircase, causing herself an injury.
The complaint further alleges that the two women argued with police personnel, used abusive language and allegedly threatened police officials while attempting to put pressure on them to stop the arrest process.
A separate case has consequently been registered against the two women at the Chinchwad police station, and both have been arrested.
Police have also stated that serious cases had allegedly been registered against the two women in the past. However, details regarding those previous cases and their present legal status require independent official verification.
During the incident, women police personnel reportedly had to intervene to control the situation. Police said the women allegedly continued to use abusive or inappropriate language, record the proceedings on mobile phones and create a disturbance, leading to tension on the police station premises for some time.
The incident has drawn attention to the alleged confrontation between the accused’s relatives and police personnel during the arrest process. Further investigation into the case is underway.
