Plumber Held for Stealing Gold Jewellery from Women’s PG in Bavdhan
- Stolen jewellery worth ₹6.65 lakh recovered; 44 grams of gold seized by police
Pune : Bavdhan police have detained a plumber in connection with an alleged burglary at a women’s paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Bavdhan area and recovered gold jewellery worth ₹6.65 lakh from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Yashwant Date (33), who was reportedly residing in the Kalewadi Phata area.
According to the complaint filed by a 32-year-old woman from Susgaon, the burglary took place between 11.45 pm on September 26 and 10 am on September 28. An unidentified person allegedly broke the latch of the house and entered the premises before stealing gold jewellery belonging to the complainant and her friend from a drawer in a cupboard.
Following the complaint, Bavdhan police registered a case and launched an investigation. Under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Arvind Pawar, the investigation team examined CCTV footage from the PG premises and surrounding areas. Police also used technical analysis and confidential information to identify and trace the suspect.
During the investigation, police received information that the suspect was staying in the Kalewadi Phata area. Date was subsequently detained and questioned. Police said the stolen jewellery, weighing 44 grams and valued at ₹6.65 lakh, was recovered from his possession. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Constable Shinde.
