PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has started distributing NCMC ST Smart Cards in Pimpri-Chinchwad as part of a special initiative organised on the occasion of the birthday of Ashwini Sachin Chikhale-Marathe, described by the party as the first woman corporator of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation from the MNS.
The smart card camp was organised by the MNS in memory of late Prakash (Appa) Kalbhor and late Godavari Rakhmaji Kalbhor. The camp received a strong response from citizens, with around 800 people registering for the smart cards. The distribution of the cards began on October 2 on the occasion of Chikhale-Marathe’s birthday.
The NCMC ST Smart Card, approved by the Maharashtra Government, is intended to enable cashless travel on ST buses, Metro and other public transport services. The facility is expected to be useful for senior citizens, women, students and regular commuters.
MNS city president Sachin Chikhale, party office-bearers, workers and a large number of citizens were present during the card distribution programme. The initiative aims to encourage digital and cashless payments in public transportation while making travel more convenient for citizens.
