Collector Directs Authorities to Address Traffic, Road and Drainage Issues in Chakan-Hinjewadi
- Survey of drains, removal of encroachments and traffic planning among key measures discussed
PUNE : Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi reviewed various infrastructure and traffic-related issues in the Chakan and Hinjewadi industrial areas through the High-Level Task Force Committee and directed concerned authorities to take necessary action on priority.
The review meeting, held at the Collector’s Office, discussed traffic congestion, potholes, stormwater drainage, encroachments on drains, road widening, junctions and U-turns, as well as public transport facilities. Senior officials from the MIDC, municipal corporations, police, highways and other departments attended the meeting.
Dudi directed officials to complete necessary surveys, remove encroachments and prepare detailed plans for the proposed works. He instructed authorities to survey drains in the Chakan area and take action against encroachments. Seasonal encroachments should be removed immediately, while action against unauthorised constructions should be taken as per rules.
The MIDC and PMRDA were directed to conduct surveys of drains within their respective jurisdictions and compile details of encroachments.
The Collector also called for traffic data and simulation studies before finalising road designs, junctions, medians and U-turns on national highways. Only authorised bus stops and designated bus depots should be used for stopping buses and other vehicles, he said, directing police to act against unauthorised parking and stopping.
Officials were also directed to repair potholes in Chakan and Hinjewadi and develop effective stormwater drainage systems instead of merely filling potholes. Dudi further directed authorities to resume anti-encroachment action that had been temporarily suspended during Ganeshotsav and make the required land available for planned works.
