Slum Residents Prefer Online Tax Payment

  • ₹26.15 lakh service tax collected in six months

PIMPRI, October 2, 2026: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Slum Eradication and Rehabilitation Department has received a strong response from slum residents to its online facility for payment of slum service tax during the financial year 2026-27.

During the first half of the current financial year, ₹12.49 lakh was collected through 422 online receipts. Overall, between April 1 and September 30, 2026, the civic body collected ₹26.15 lakh through 831 receipts via both online and offline modes.

The PCMC had made both online and offline payment facilities available this year. The online facility has made the payment process easier and helped residents save time. The civic administration is encouraging more taxpayers to use digital payment options.

Record collection in first half

The Slum Eradication and Rehabilitation Department has focused on expanding online facilities, creating awareness among residents, informing taxpayers about available payment options and regularly reviewing outstanding dues.

As a result, the civic body recorded its highest collection during the first half of the current financial year. The department had collected ₹25.37 lakh in 2022-23, ₹25.27 lakh in 2023-24 and ₹10.14 lakh in 2024-25.

Women’s empowerment

Bills for slum service tax are being distributed through women from self-help groups. The initiative is helping create awareness about timely tax payments while also providing employment opportunities to women in slum areas.
