“PCMC Hospitals’ Private Car Bills Under Scanner; BJP Worker Seeks Probe”

Pimpri-Chinchwad : Questions have been raised over the hiring and use of private vehicles on a rental basis for doctors, senior medical officers and other officials at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital (YCM) and other hospitals and medical departments of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

BJP worker Sachin Kalbhor has submitted a representation seeking detailed information about the vehicle arrangements and a probe into the expenditure from public funds. Kalbhor has sought hospital- and department-wise details of the total number of vehicles hired, including their type, company, model and registration numbers. He has also sought information on the officers and departments to which the vehicles have been allotted.

The representation seeks details of the tender process, including tender numbers, estimated and approved costs, terms and conditions, work orders, contractor details, contract period and total contract value. Information on the rent paid for each vehicle, as well as expenditure on drivers, fuel, maintenance, repairs and insurance, has also been sought.

Kalbhor has further demanded year-wise details of expenditure and records showing the actual use of the vehicles. He has asked whether logbooks are maintained and which officials verify vehicle usage, bills and payments to contractors. He urged the civic administration to verify whether financial and procurement rules were followed and, if necessary, conduct an independent administrative inquiry.

Kalbhor said the demand was aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the use of public funds, rather than making allegations against any individual or contractor.
