Wakad Underpass Accident: Youth on Tempo Roof Dies After Vehicle Hits Column
Pimpri-Chinchwad : A 20-year-old man sitting on the roof of a tempo died after the vehicle hit a column inside an underpass in Wakad on Monday afternoon. Wakad police have registered a case against the tempo driver.
The accident took place around 2:15 pm on October 6 at the underpass near Solitaire Society on Pink City Road, Wakad.
According to police, the accused driver, Tushar Jyotiram Mane (22), a resident of Adarsh Colony, Wakad, was driving a Tata tempo bearing registration number MH 14 LB 4598. Police said Mane was aware that Rishi Dhananjay Kudale (20), a resident of Laxminagar, Thergaon, was sitting on the roof of the tempo.
Despite this, the driver allegedly drove the tempo at high speed and negligently through the underpass. The vehicle hit a column, causing Rishi Kudale to suffer serious head injuries.
He was taken for medical treatment but died of his injuries, police said.
The complaint was filed by Dhananjay Srinivas Kudale (50), a resident of Mahadev Colony, Laxminagar, Thergaon. Police have taken the accused driver into custody.
A case has been registered at Wakad Police Station under Sections 106(1), 281 and 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, including Sections 184 and 119/177.
