Two Accidents on Pune-Mumbai Missing Link Raise Safety Concerns

PUNE : Two separate road accidents were reported on the Yashwantrao Chavan Pune-Mumbai Missing Link on Tuesday morning, once again raising concerns over road safety on the newly opened route.

In the first incident, a pickup tempo carrying bananas overturned on the connecting link towards Mumbai at around 3 am. According to preliminary information, the driver, Sameer Sheikh, lost control of the vehicle at high speed, causing it to overturn.

Sheikh sustained injuries in the accident and is undergoing treatment at Khopoli Municipal Hospital.

The accident resulted in a large quantity of bananas spilling onto the road, leaving a substantial portion of the Missing Link covered with the fruit. Authorities and road personnel are working to remove the damaged vehicle and clear the bananas from the carriageway.

Second Accident Involves Bus, Truck

A second accident was reported at another location on the Missing Link, involving a bus and a truck. Preliminary information suggests that around six to seven people were injured in the collision.

Details regarding the condition of those injured and the exact circumstances leading to the second accident are awaited.

With two accidents reported at separate locations on the Missing Link within a short span, concerns over driver safety, speed management and road conditions have once again come into focus.
