PCMC Plans Focused Drive to Meet Property Tax Collection Target

Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor directs officials to expedite recovery, clear pending cases and review progress every 15 days

Pimpri : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will launch a planned and focused campaign to achieve its property tax collection target for the current financial year. Additional Commissioner Trupti Sandbhor has directed officials to strengthen recovery efforts, expedite pending cases and take action against defaulters who fail to pay their dues despite receiving notices.

Sandbhor chaired a review meeting of the Tax Collection and Assessment Department at the Madhukar Pawale Auditorium in the PCMC’s main administrative building in Pimpri. The meeting was held in accordance with the directions issued by Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi to ensure systematic planning for tax collection.

The meeting reviewed outstanding property tax dues, property attachment proceedings, property transfer applications, pending complaints on the Sarathi portal and action taken on instructions issued during previous meetings.

Sandbhor emphasised that property tax accounts for a significant share of the civic body’s revenue, which supports development projects and the delivery of civic amenities. She instructed assistant divisional officers to prepare area-specific plans and achieve their assigned collection targets within the stipulated period.

Officials were also asked to submit written details of the measures planned to improve recovery. Sandbhor warned that delays or negligence in tax collection could invite action against the concerned officers and employees.

She further directed officials to compare property tax collection figures from the past five years to assess the current year’s performance. Recovery efforts should prioritise properties where outstanding dues can be collected relatively quickly. Defaulters must be reminded regularly about pending payments, and attachment proceedings should be initiated as per rules against those who fail to pay despite receiving the required notices.

The additional commissioner also stressed the need to speed up assessment of properties identified through the civic body’s new property survey. Records of residential, commercial, mixed-use and industrial properties, as well as vacant plots, must be updated to improve assessment and collection.

Officials were instructed to resolve pending property tax complaints, expedite property transfer applications and clear other outstanding departmental work without delay. Deputy Commissioner Sachin Pawar, Administration Officer Rashmi Deshpande, assistant divisional officers and other departmental staff attended the meeting.

Sandbhor announced that property tax collection will be reviewed every 15 days to monitor progress, address bottlenecks and ensure that the civic body achieves its annual revenue target.
