Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti Celebrated with Grandeur in Wakad

Chariot procession, Mata Ki Chowki and Dandiya festivities mark celebrations

PIMPRI-CHINCHWAD : Promoting the ideals of Maharaja Agrasenji among the younger generation and strengthening social unity were the key messages at the Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti celebrations organised by the Agrawal community at Park Street, Wakad, on October 11.

Speaking at the event, noted industrialist Krishnakumar Goyal said it was essential to familiarise young people with Maharaja Agrasenji’s principles and carry forward his vision of social harmony, equality and mutual cooperation.

He said Maharaja Agrasenji’s philosophy was not limited to any particular community but promoted mutual respect, collective progress and brotherhood. The celebrations aimed to connect the younger generation with its cultural heritage and encourage them to uphold these values.

The event featured a grand chariot procession, Mata Ki Chowki, a devotional night-long gathering (jagran) and a Dandiya festival. The programmes witnessed participation from several members of the Agrawal community.

Chief organiser Nitin Agrawal said the annual celebration was an effort to preserve family traditions, cultural values and the community’s heritage. He said the teachings and values passed down by previous generations needed to be shared with children and young people to ensure their continuity.

Dr Om Ashok Agrawal highlighted Maharaja Agrasenji’s principle of collective welfare, citing the tradition of ‘one rupee, one brick’. The concept encouraged every individual to contribute according to their capacity towards community development, he said.

The event was attended by Krishnakumar Goyal, Nitin Agrawal, Rajkumar Agrawal, Surendra Agrawal, Pawan Agrawal, Manish Agrawal, Pankaj Agrawal, Dinesh Agrawal, Deepak Agrawal and Shantanu Agrawal, among others.

The celebrations sought to reinforce the values of unity, service and cooperation while encouraging the younger generation to remain connected with its cultural roots.
