Nana Patekar Remembered During Classical Marathi Language Week at PCMC

Pimpri : The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor, theatre personality and Padma Shri awardee Nana Patekar during the ongoing ‘Classical Marathi Language Week’ celebrations at Prof. Ramkrishna More Auditorium in Chinchwad.

Patekar, 77, passed away in Goa on Thursday, October 8, leaving the Marathi and Hindi film industries, theatre and the wider cultural fraternity mourning his loss. A floral tribute was offered to his portrait, followed by a moment of remembrance.

Special Officer and Marathi Language Coordination Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Chief Security Officer Uday Jarande, ghazal singer Ashish Mujumdar, Library Head Pratibha Munawat and other officials, artists and citizens were present.

Speakers recalled Patekar’s significant contribution to Marathi theatre and cinema, as well as his acclaimed work in Hindi films. A recipient of three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri, Patekar was also known for his social initiatives through Naam Foundation.
