PIMPRI : <\/strong>In a major festive relief for the sanitation workforce of Pimpri-Chinchwad, the Municipal Corporation has approved a special Diwali bonus of \u20b930,000 for employees working under garbage collection contractors engaged by its Health Department for the financial year 2025\u201326. Taking cognisance of the workers\u2019 demand and their contribution to the city\u2019s sanitation services, the Municipal Commissioner granted official approval on November 2, 2026, for a Diwali reward of \u20b930,000 per contractor worker, in line with the previous year\u2019s arrangement. Following the Commissioner\u2019s approval, the Standing Committee has sanctioned the expenditure required to implement the decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The move is expected to provide financial support to the sanitation workforce during the festive season and recognise the efforts of workers who continue to deliver essential civic services throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Abhishek Barne\u2019s Statement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cGarbage collection contractors and their employees shoulder the important responsibility of keeping our city clean and hygienic through their tireless efforts. \u2003Garbage collection workers play a crucial role in keeping Pimpri-Chinchwad clean and protecting public health. Working across all ten ward offices, they undertake daily door-to-door waste collection and ensure the regular transportation of garbage from residential and commercial areas.
\u2003The garbage collection contractor system has been operating under the PCMC Health Department since 1997, covering the A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J and L ward offices.
\u2003The Municipal Corporation has maintained a tradition of providing special Diwali rewards to garbage collection contractor workers since 2006. During the previous financial year, 2024\u201325, a special Diwali reward of \u20b930,000 was also sanctioned for each eligible garbage collection contractor worker.
