Labour Leader Questions State Government<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pimpri :<\/strong> Labour leader Kasinath Nakhate has criticised the Maharashtra government over the discontinuation of financial assistance to beneficiaries of the Ladki Bahin scheme and the suspension of the &#8216;Anandacha Shidha&#8217; scheme, alleging that lakhs of women and economically weaker families have been deprived of promised benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nakhate claimed that the government initially declared around 80 lakh women ineligible under the Ladki Bahin scheme, followed by another 11 lakh, taking the total to approximately 91 lakh beneficiaries whose financial assistance has reportedly been discontinued. He alleged that the decision, along with the discontinuation of Anandacha Shidha, has affected the festive celebrations of workers, labourers and economically weaker sections during Diwali.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To protest against the decisions, members of the Kashtakari Sangharsh Mahasangh Maharashtra, Domestic Workers&#8217; Federation, Construction Workers&#8217; Coordination Committee and Hawkers&#8217; Kranti Mahasangh organised a demonstration at Thermax Chowk in Chinchwad on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Addressing the gathering, Nakhate questioned why women who were promised financial assistance under the Ladki Bahin scheme were being deprived of the benefits. He alleged that the scheme was introduced with considerable publicity but that lakhs of beneficiaries were subsequently declared ineligible after the elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He also criticised the discontinuation of Anandacha Shidha, under which beneficiaries were provided one litre of cooking oil, one kilogram each of semolina, refined flour and sugar during the festive season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nakhate questioned what fault construction workers, sanitation workers, hawkers, domestic workers and other labourers had committed to be excluded from these welfare benefits. He demanded that the government clarify its position and ensure that eligible women receive their assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The labour leader said a protest had earlier been organised at Azad Maidan in Mumbai on September 1 to raise the issue. During the protest, a discussion was held with Minister of State for Women and Child Development Meghana Sakore-Bordikar, who reportedly assured the delegation that the e-KYC process would be completed soon. Several MLAs had also written to the government regarding the issue. However, Nakhate alleged that no satisfactory action had followed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He further claimed that benefits under the scheme had also been discontinued for domestic workers and warned that affected women would not forget the issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The demonstration was attended by Mahasangh&#8217;s state vice-president Rajesh Mane, Irfan Chaudhary, Lala Rathod, Sunil Bhosale, Sushma Suryawanshi, Indu Jadhav, Lata Salunkhe, Subha Kawale, Rani Sote, Sheetal Shinde, Parvati Kale, Priyanka Jagtap and several other office-bearers and members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nakhate warned that the government would face political consequences in future elections over the alleged denial of welfare benefits to women and workers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Why Have Lakhs of Women Been Left Without Financial Assistance?
