A proposal seeking approval for the borrowing will be placed before the Standing Committee at its meeting scheduled for Wednesday (November 4).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Considering the city&#8217;s rapidly growing population, expanding urbanisation and increasing pressure on civic amenities, the administration has drawn up a long-term infrastructure development plan. The proposed projects include the Pavana closed water pipeline, new sewage networks, wastewater recycling, modern sewage treatment plants, water metering systems and solid waste management facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Central Funding to Support Infrastructure Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the Central Government&#8217;s Urban Challenge Fund, 25% of the project cost will be made available as central assistance. Another 50% will be mobilised through loans, bonds and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) arrangements. The remaining 25%, amounting to \u20b91,188.95 crore, will be contributed from the PCMC&#8217;s own funds.<br>The administration aims to use multiple funding sources to accelerate major infrastructure projects while ensuring the availability of financial resources for their implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Infrastructure Planning with a 25-Year Vision<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The implementation process for projects that received administrative approval during the tenure of former Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh is now underway. Subsequently, Municipal Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi has emphasised planning infrastructure development in line with the city&#8217;s future requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Long-term interventions are being planned in water supply, drainage, sewage treatment and solid waste management to address the growing civic needs of Pimpri-Chinchwad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Financial Discipline to Remain a Priority<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside infrastructure development, the civic administration has also highlighted the need to maintain the corporation&#8217;s financial stability. Since 2019, the PCMC&#8217;s revenue has reportedly grown by 6% annually, while its revenue expenditure has increased by 18%. To ensure sufficient funds for future development works and debt repayment, the administration has set a target of increasing annual revenue by 10% and restricting the growth in revenue expenditure to 8%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed financial strategy is expected to help maintain funds for capital expenditure while supporting the city&#8217;s long-term infrastructure requirements. Effective and timely implementation of these projects could significantly improve civic amenities and strengthen Pimpri-Chinchwad&#8217;s urban infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>&#8220;To secure funding under the Urban Challenge Fund, the municipal corporation will arrange 50% of the project cost. For this purpose, it plans to raise a loan of \u20b91,246.50 crore. The funds will be utilised for important projects related to water supply and solid waste management.
