Citing potential risks to public health, the environment and national security, she has submitted a representation to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Vijay Suryawanshi, demanding cancellation of the proposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taras said she was opposing the project in response to concerns among residents of Ward No. 16. She urged the civic administration to reconsider the proposal before taking any further steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Questions over Moshi project<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taras questioned the need for a new facility when the existing WTE project in Moshi, according to her, has yet to achieve its expected operational capacity and efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She highlighted alleged technical difficulties, operational shortcomings, environmental concerns and unresolved waste-management issues at the Moshi facility. She demanded that these problems be addressed and the existing plant made fully operational and safe before the administration considers another project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Security concerns near Ordnance Factory<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Raising concerns over national security, Taras pointed out that the proposed site is near the Dehu Road Ordnance Factory, which comes under the Ministry of Defence. She called for a detailed assessment of potential security risks and consultation with the Defence Department before any decision is taken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Concerns over Durga Hill and residential areas<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taras also highlighted the presence of historic Durga Hill, residential societies, educational institutions and densely populated neighbourhoods around the proposed site. She expressed concern over the potential impact of air pollution, foul odour, noise and increased traffic on residents&#8217; health and quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She demanded that the project process be suspended immediately and that an independent Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and social impact assessment report be made public. Local residents, elected representatives, environmental experts and defence authorities should be consulted, and citizens should be allowed to submit objections and suggestions before a final decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Warns of public agitation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Taras urged the PCMC administration to prioritise public health, environmental protection and residents&#8217; safety and scrap the proposed project.
