The incident occurred at around 4.30 am on Saturday, October 24. The injured constable reportedly sustained a serious injury above his left eye.

According to the complaint filed by Police Constable Amol Suresh Shinde, the accused had brought their friend, Kaustubh Gupta, to the hospital for treatment. While medical officers were attending to Gupta, the accused allegedly argued with doctors, shouted and created a disturbance.

Shinde and Police Constable Dagwar, who were deployed for security duty, asked the men to stop creating a commotion. Angered by the intervention, the accused allegedly pushed Shinde, grabbed his uniform collar and abused him.

Shinde subsequently went to the YCM police outpost to seek additional police assistance. However, accused Vaibhav Subhash Salunkhe allegedly followed him there, threatened to kill him, grabbed him by the neck and punched him in the face while holding a thick iron bangle in his hand. The complaint states that Shinde suffered a serious injury to his forehead above the left eye.

The other two accused, Kushal Naina Goyal and Sohel Shabbir Shaikh, allegedly abused Shinde and threatened to kill him if they encountered him outside.

A case has been registered at Sant Tukaramnagar police station under Sections 109(1), 121(1), 121(2), 132, 352, 351(2) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

According to police records, all three accused have been detained.
