Despite time-based entry restrictions, trucks, trailers and other goods vehicles are frequently seen on busy roads, affecting the daily movement of office-goers, students and two-wheeler riders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The scale of the violations is reflected in traffic police figures. Between January and September 2026, the Pimpri-Chinchwad traffic police took action against 90,606 vehicles for violations and recovered fines of more than Rs 11.90 crore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a major industrial hub, Pimpri-Chinchwad handles substantial freight movement from industrial belts such as Bhosari, Chakan, Talegaon, Ranjangaon, Supa, Ahilyanagar and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar towards Pune, Mumbai and other destinations. However, the movement of heavy vehicles during morning and evening rush hours puts additional pressure on the city&#8217;s already busy roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the existing restrictions, heavy vehicles are prohibited from entering designated routes within the Pimpri-Chinchwad police commissionerate between 8 am and noon and from 4 pm to 9 pm. Despite these restrictions, violations continue to affect traffic flow at major junctions and on key roads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When trucks and trailers get caught in congested stretches, they often lead to long queues. Two-wheeler riders attempting to squeeze through narrow gaps or travel on the wrong side further increase the risk of collisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cRestrictions on heavy vehicles have been imposed to ensure smooth traffic flow, but some drivers continue to violate the rules. Serious accidents have also occurred in some areas because heavy vehicles entered restricted zones. Strict action is being taken against violators,\u201d said Vikrant Deshmukh, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Pimpri-Chinchwad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With industrial transport being essential to the city&#8217;s economy, a complete ban on heavy vehicles is not a practical solution.
