The civic administration has written to the Stamp and Registration Department and is preparing further measures to prevent illegal structures from receiving essential services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The move targets unauthorised constructions in red zones, buffer zones, green zones, river floodline areas and reserved plots. The state government has taken note of the growing problem, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule directing authorities to prevent such constructions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The civic body will provide details, including survey numbers of affected properties, to the Registration Department to facilitate action against the registration of sale and purchase documents wherever legally permissible. According to civic officials, Pimpri-Chinchwad has approximately 7.25 lakh properties, of which around 3.5 lakh are reportedly associated with unauthorised construction records. A separate policy has been formulated for the regularisation of eligible constructions built up to 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The administration believes that providing electricity, property tax registration, water supply and drainage connections to unauthorised buildings indirectly encourages illegal development. Accordingly, PCMC plans to write to Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), urging it to exercise the necessary caution while granting electricity connections. Restrictions on water and drainage connections are also being considered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Following Revenue Minister Bawankule&#8217;s visit to the city, Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi was instructed to strengthen action against illegal constructions. The civic body has since initiated correspondence with the Registration Department and transferred beat inspectors to improve monitoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cMany developers construct unauthorised buildings, resulting in the exploitation of ordinary citizens. Illegal construction will not be allowed going forward. Details of the relevant survey numbers have been provided to the Registration Department.
