{"id":2707,"date":"2026-09-10T13:43:45","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T08:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/theleadernews.in\/?p=2707"},"modified":"2026-09-10T14:37:27","modified_gmt":"2026-09-10T09:07:27","slug":"shankar-jagtaps-push-gets-cabinet-nod-for-200-bed-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/theleadernews.in\/?p=2707","title":{"rendered":"Shankar Jagtap\u2019s Push Gets Cabinet Nod for 200-Bed Hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Cabinet approves 772 posts and funding under Pragati health project<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Pimpri :<\/strong> The Maharashtra Cabinet has approved the establishment of a 200-bed super-speciality hospital at the Pune District Hospital under the state government\u2019s Pragati Health Improvement Project, providing a major boost to specialised healthcare services in the district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The decision, approved on September 8, includes the creation of 772 posts, along with funding for modern medical equipment and infrastructure required for the facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap welcomed the decision, stating that the approval will strengthen the district hospital and help provide advanced treatment for serious illnesses locally. He said he had consistently followed up with the government for strengthening the hospital and increasing its bed capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The state Cabinet has approved the Pragati Health Improvement Project for 2026\u20132031, with a total outlay of Rs. 4,250 crore. The project aims to strengthen district hospitals with modern equipment, digital healthcare facilities and improved treatment infrastructure, while developing them as multi-speciality healthcare hubs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Pune project is among five major hospital proposals approved under the initiative. While Pune will get a 200-bed facility, 500-bed hospitals are proposed in Kolhapur and Nanded, and 300-bed hospitals in Nagpur and Latur. A total of 2,430 posts have been approved for these five hospitals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advanced treatment closer to home<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed super-speciality facility is expected to strengthen treatment for serious conditions, including heart diseases, cancer, neurological disorders and kidney diseases. It is also expected to reduce the need for patients to travel long distances or depend on expensive private hospitals for specialised treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jagtap said the project would help transform the district hospital into a modern and patient-centric healthcare centre. He also said he would continue pursuing the proposed addition of 400 more beds at the district hospital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cApproval for the 200-bed super-speciality hospital is a major relief for common patients.
