The meeting focused on developing an integrated long-term plan covering internal roads, traffic management, metro connectivity, public transport, water supply, utilities and other essential infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">District Collector Jitendra Dudi directed the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) and Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) to initiate immediate action on the Rs. 426-crore fund sanctioned for the development of internal roads in the Hinjewadi IT Park area. He also instructed the agencies to prioritise works at locations experiencing severe traffic congestion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting was attended by MLAs Shankar Mandekar and Babaji Kale, Additional Collector Satish Raut, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Deputy Commissioner (Traffic) Vikrant Deshmukh and residents from Hinjewadi, Maan and Varunji villages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Focus on Integrated Mobility<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The committee stressed that Hinjewadi\u2019s traffic problems cannot be addressed through road widening and repairs alone. A coordinated transport network integrating the metro, public transport, pedestrian infrastructure, cycling facilities and last-mile connectivity is being planned. The proposed system aims to provide safe and convenient access from metro stations to IT companies, residential societies and surrounding villages through a network of connecting roads and transport facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 19.1 km of last-mile connectivity roads have been proposed to link the Hinjewadi area with metro stations. This includes approximately 7.225 km of roads under the PMRDA area and 11.974 km under the MIDC area. The development will focus not only on vehicular movement but also on creating safe and dedicated facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Footpaths, Cycle Tracks and Accessible Streets<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under the last-mile connectivity plan, roads within approximately 500 metres to 1.5 km of metro stations will be developed. The proposed infrastructure includes paved footpaths, cycle tracks, tactile pathways, safe pedestrian crossings, street lighting and directional signage. The authorities have also been instructed to ensure that the infrastructure is accessible to persons with disabilities. To encourage greater use of the metro, the plan includes bus stops, shuttle and feeder bus services, auto-rickshaw stands, bus bays and public bicycle-sharing facilities near metro stations. Planned parking facilities around metro stations are also expected to help reduce congestion caused by unauthorised roadside parking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Integrated Utility Planning<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The proposed road development will incorporate storm-water drainage, water and sewage pipelines, dedicated utility corridors for electricity and optical-fibre cables, and provisions for gas pipelines. The objective is to ensure that roads do not have to be repeatedly excavated for utility works and that essential services are developed through coordinated planning. PMRDA has also been directed to initiate necessary action for the development of six DP roads in Hinjewadi, Maan and Varunji villages. Future road planning will take into account anticipated traffic growth, pedestrian movement, cycling and public transport requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Public Transport and Transit Hub<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Collector directed the authorities to undertake an immediate scientific traffic study and formulate measures based on its findings. The administration is also exploring the development of a transit hub in Hinjewadi. Officials have been asked to examine the possibility of using available land for a PMPML depot as well as identify alternative locations for developing a new depot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Long-Term Water Supply Plan<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The meeting also discussed measures to address Hinjewadi\u2019s long-standing water supply challenges. Discussions are underway with Tata regarding the possibility of making water from the Mulshi Dam available to the area. Authorities are also working on a long-term water supply strategy considering the rapidly growing population and the future requirements of the IT Park and surrounding residential areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Power, Public Spaces and Civic Infrastructure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With electricity demand rising in the Hinjewadi region, officials have been asked to submit a report on land requirements for a new Mahavitaran substation. The administration has also directed the concerned agencies to explore the development of sports grounds, cultural centres and green public spaces to improve the quality of life for residents and employees in the rapidly urbanising area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Waste Management Gets Coordinated Approach<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A coordinated waste management mechanism has also been proposed. Waste generated in the Hinjewadi area will be processed through facilities of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC). Gram panchayats adjoining Hinjewadi have been asked to transport waste generated within their jurisdictions to PCMC\u2019s designated waste management facility. The administration will provide garbage collection vehicles to support the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>AI-Based CCTV Network Planned<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To strengthen security in the Hinjewadi area, the police department will install <strong>AI-based CCTV cameras<\/strong> at strategic locations. District administration funds will be made available for the initiative, Collector Dudi said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Restrictions on Heavy Vehicles During Peak Hours<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To ease congestion on internal roads, heavy vehicles transporting construction material have been restricted from entering the area during morning and evening peak traffic hours.
